Jim Root , guitarist for Slipknot , spoke about the band's new compositions, the impact of their new drummer, Eloy Casagrande , on their touring schedule, and how the pandemic has influenced their work.

In an interview with Guitar Interactive , Jim Root said that the group is currently focused on touring and, because of that, they aren't paying much attention to new music [transcription via Blabbermouth ]: "We've been touring so much since Eloy arrived that my inspiration is almost zero."

The guitarist confirms that there is already material underway and comments: “There are several songs written during the pandemic, but I'm not interested in them. I think all the other members understand this too, I feel like they're all like 'let's get rid of all this and start from scratch'.”

Slipknot announced a year ago "Long May You Die," a new song recorded during drummer Eloy Casagrande's early sessions with the band.

During an interview with Veja São Paulo , Eloy commented on new material: “I’m getting familiar with how the band works. It’s still not clear how things will work regarding new albums and songs. We’ve written some things, but for now they’re shelved.”
