Jim Carrey had an "uncontrollable" laughing fit when he first heard Pantera.

"I had never heard anything like it," the actor said.

In a recent interview to promote the movie Sonic 2 , actor Jim Carrey spoke about the day he was introduced to the music of Pantera . Carrey, who had never heard the band before, was traveling by car with his manager, Jim Miller , and had a rather unusual reaction upon hearing the band for the first time.

“I had never heard anything like it. And it hit me on such a high level of extreme stimulation that I started laughing uncontrollably throughout the entire track. I started laughing nervously, like, 'What's happening here?'” the actor recounts.

According to Jim Carrey, the story gets even weirder because when he and his manager arrived at the hotel where they were staying, the members of Pantera themselves were in line behind them, waiting to check in. "We turned around and thought, 'Are you kidding me?' It was too weird," he says.

The actor and comedian, known for works such as Ace Ventura (1994) and The Mask (1994), also said that he usually listens to all kinds of music when he's at home, from jazz to Gregorian chants, and that this also includes heavy metal when he's in the mood.

“If I need chaos or madness sometimes, [I listen to] something like Pantera, who challenge the world in a masculine, quite strong way. Or 'Breed' by Nirvana . 'Breed' is one of the best. It's kind of an un-sung song and ends up being overshadowed by other hits from the band. But 'Breed' is one of the most explosive songs in history. It's wonderful,” he says.
