American vocalist Jeff Scott Soto discussed the 40th anniversary of Yngwie Malmsteen 's Marching Out in a conversation with journalist Ricardo Battalha, available in the 5 TO ROCK .

After recording two tracks from their debut album, Rising Force , Soto reminisces about joining Malmsteen's band and the album's recording process. He also discusses the vocal challenges he faced during that period and how he views those performances today.

Soto also contributed to the songwriting, and the '5 to Rock' segment includes a bonus track-by-track analysis with the vocalist commenting on all the songs he recorded vocals for – eight in total, since the "Marching Out" album features three instrumental tracks.

The artist recounted that he composed the melody for "I'll See the Light Tonight," but in "Disciples of Hell" he felt uncomfortable with the occult themes, stemming from the Swedish guitarist's personal interest at the time. In "I'm a Viking," he acknowledged the cultural distance regarding the subject matter, but enjoyed performing it. In "On the Run Again," he had complete freedom to compose lyrics and melodies, exploring the idea of escape and freedom.
