It's a joke, of course. Or a marketing ploy. The trio calling themselves Jazz Sabbath will release their album on April 10th.

The band initially released a 15-minute documentary telling their story. In it, the members are interviewed by renowned actor Robert Powell . The video narrates the rise and fall of the supposed jazz band whose music was allegedly stolen by Black Sabbath in the late 1960s.

Testimonials from various artists recalling the incident were included in the documentary. The video features interviews with members of Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne , Motörhead , Faith No More , The Ramones , Royal Blood , and others.

In an official statement, Jazz Sabbath says that "the album was recorded in 1969, but only now will the 7 songs, never heard before and believed to be lost forever, be released." All the songs were immortalized by Black Sabbath: "Iron Man," "Changes," "Children Of The Grave," "Hand Of Doom," "Rat Salad," "Evil Woman," and "Fairies Wear Boots.".

The documentary, which can be viewed in its entirety below, recounts that the Jazz Sabbath frontman suffered a heart attack on the day of his album's release.

Subsequently, due to a twist of fate, the original recordings were lost in a fire and only recovered last year.

Now, Jazz Sabbath wants to show the world that the heavy metal band adored by millions is nothing more than a bunch of charlatans who robbed and exploited a hospitalized genius.

The project, of course, is a joke led by Milton Keanes , who is actually the pseudonym of Adam Wakeman , keyboardist and guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.

Alongside Wakeman, the jazz trio is completed by Jerry Meechan (who plays with Robbie Williams ) and Ash Soan (who plays with Adele and Cher ).

A Jazz Sabbath tour is being planned for 2020.

Far beyond just a bit of fun, the project features beautifully played jazz versions of Black Sabbath classics.
