Jay Weinberg , former drummer of Slipknot and current Suicidal Tendencies member , has revealed more details about his solo project, which has been in production for over a decade.
In an interview on the Percussion Discussion , the drummer said [transcription via Metal Injection ]: “I’m embarking on a recording project that’s been very close and dear to my heart for a long time, music I’ve been writing and working on since my early twenties. So, I’ve invested a considerable amount of time in it. It’s basically just me, and I’m also inviting friends I’ve always wanted to collaborate with.”
Jay continued: “These are all things that I feel are true to the music I love, but it’s kind of a little more varied than, I suppose, I’ve really delved into before. So, I’m in the middle of that process right now and kind of figuring out how to integrate that into a live environment where I know I won’t be able to play drums, guitar, bass, and keyboards all at the same time.”
Jay will be starting a tour with Suicidal Tendencies, opening for Metallica , and is thinking about doing some independent events, like drum workshops, during his free time between shows. “So, that’s a little peek into the logistics of making things happen. But it’s very exciting. Discovering all these kinds of solo, more independent activities is very, very exciting to embark on now. But it takes a lot of planning,” he added.
