Jay Weinberg, former drummer of Slipknot, releases his first solo single, "Sandstone".

Jay Weinberg has released his first solo single, "Sandstone," featuring George Clarke , vocalist of Deafheaven. The track is accompanied by a music video co-directed by Aubrey McCoy and Liam Stewart .

The Slipknot drummer and current Suicide Tendencies member had been producing this new work since April, which he says is "very important," and consists of songs that Jay has been composing and working on since his early twenties.

In an interview with the website Wall Of Sound , Jay Weinberg commented on the first single:

“This is the first song I released under my own name and the first of a series of collaborations. An EP that is in different stages of completion, but which I hope to release in early 2026.”

Regarding the collaboration, Jay said: “I’ve always wanted to collaborate primarily with vocalists and create something really laid-back. It’s like, ‘Hey, here’s a song, why not?’, instead of… ‘Oh, we need to start a side project’. In the case of ‘Sandstone’, I really felt that the music I was creating fit perfectly with what my friend George Clark would be able to do with his voice and lyrics, so I simply proposed the idea to him: ‘Hey, let’s do this song’. And he understood perfectly, came in and killed it. It was amazing to see the music transform into a complete song.”
