2020 continues to bring us tragic news: Jason Slater , original bassist for Third Eye Blind and producer for Queensryche, has died at age 49, his daughter Alyssa confirms.
The information comes via the TMZ , which confirmed, through Alyssa, that Jason died of liver failure in a hospital in Maui, Hawaii.
The artist, who left Third Eye Blind in 1994 after joining in 1993, before the group's success in 1997 with their first album, had not spoken to the members since the late 1990s. However, a representative told TMZ, "When a spirited member of the music scene is taken away too briefly, it's always a sad moment." After his time with the band, Jason also joined the bands Snake River Conspiracy and Revenge of the Triads .
Craig Locicero Forbidden guitarist, also paid tribute to Slater, writing, "The world lost a force of nature today. Jason Slater has left the building." He shared visual mementos of his friendship with the artist, writing, "The world lost a force of nature today. Jason Slater has left the building."
“My heart is broken. This hits me in the gut. From the first day I met Jason at Music Annex when Forbidden was recording Distortion in 1994, we understood each other. Madden and music were our connection,” he recalls.
“As time went on, Jason did some pretty incredible things in between his crazy life. Jason was a successful producer, engineer, record label mogul, songwriter, musician, businessman, and a party animal in the middle of it all,” Craig recounts. “The guy lived the life of 100 men, most of it on the edge.
