Newsted remembers Cliff Burton's parents
In an interview with Loudwire, former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted recalled his audition for Metallica and what the day he joined the band was like. According to Newsted, after the first audition the band asked him to come back and Cliff Burton's parents were there:
"The Burtons were there, Torben Ulrich was there. Both Burtons were alive at that time. They were so nice to me. When I came back they came to see me, they helped me, they hugged me.".
Jan Burton [Cliff Burton's mother] hugged me the moment they told me and said, 'When they told me, I knew you would be the chosen one, they know you are the chosen one, please stay safe.' That was very heavy. They were passing the torch from Cliff to me.”
