Jason Newsted is still capable of playing heavy metal, despite many people believing otherwise . After explaining the confusion surrounding his health, the bassist commented on the suggestion to join Megadeth and the metal band he would play with without hesitation.
During an interview with Knotfest.com (via Blabbermouth ) , the musician commented on the campaign by some of the public as a possible replacement for Dave Ellefson in Megadeth . “Wasn’t that interesting at first? Just that conversation… I don’t know if I’ll ever do something like that again. It’s not within my reach anymore,” he said. “I’m so busy with other music and playing with different people all the time. I like to play heavy stuff from time to time, but I really appreciate songwriting now – different instruments and dimensions in the songs, three or four voices, female backing vocals and that kind of cool stuff. That’s what I’m looking for now.”
Although he has no plans to face the frenetic routine of a tour and prefers to play other styles at the moment, there is one metal band that Newsted would love to play with on a special occasion. "If Andreas Kisser calls me and says, 'Come play half an hour of Sepultura with me' somewhere, I'll be there," he said.
