Jason Newsted defended Lars Ulrich Let There Be Talk podcast last Monday, the 8th. The drummer has been criticized by some people who consider him an average musician with little skill.
“Anyone who says Lars is mediocre is an idiot. People have no idea what they’re talking about. Lars’ depth, his vision, and his understanding of what was happening when he was 21, 22, 23 years old,” said the bassist.
“What’s the problem if he can’t play with the same feel as Dave Lombardo ? Don’t come talking shit about this guy. He’s way ahead of him in most things. If we didn’t have him and his ability to anticipate, to predict things, Metallica wouldn’t be what it is. So, people need to control themselves because there’s a lot more to it than just being able to hit a snare drum.”
Cliff Burton 's death , Jason joined Metallica between 1986 and 2001. Currently, the artist has resumed activities with the band Newsted .
