Jamie Reid , a major figure in punk and artist with the Sex Pistols , died this Wednesday, the 9th, at the age of 76. The information comes from Louder Than War .

Reid was known for his collage-style artwork, which eventually became an intrinsic characteristic of the punk movement. In the 1970s, he created the notable cover art for "God Save the Queen ," which became one of the Sex Pistols' biggest hits, and also for the album containing the track, Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols (1977).

Jamie was responsible for the visual art of the Sex Pistols between 1976 and 1979. In 1987, he worked with writer Jon Savage on a book called Up They Rise: Incomplete Works of Jamie Reid . On social media, Savage paid tribute to the artist:

“Rest in peace, Jamie Reid, best known as the designer for the Sex Pistols’ classic era of 1976-1979. His ability to render complex ideas into compelling visuals was the perfect complement. He and I did a book together in 1987: it’s good.”
