Vocalist responds to Portnoy's comments
In an interview with Chilean radio station Radio Futuro last month, Portnoy said he would rejoin Dream Theater "in a heartbeat." In response to comments in the same interview, vocalist James LaBrie said that "Portnoy is a big part of Dream Theater's past, and that's where he'll stay."

“I don’t see it happening, it won’t happen,” LaBrie said. “That’s because, first of all, Mike Mangini is a member of the band, he’s a phenomenal drummer and does everything you’d expect from a drummer. He’ll be part of the band until the day this ends.”.
Dream Theater will release their next album, titled “Dream Theater,” on September 24th. The CD was produced by the band's guitarist, John Petrucci, and featured Richard Chycki (Aerosmith, Rush) on sound engineering and mixing. This CD is the first to have Mike Mangini fully involved in the songwriting process.
