James LaBrie , best known for his work as the lead vocalist of Dream Theater , is preparing to release his fourth solo album, Beautiful Shade of Grey , on May 20th.
To celebrate the announcement, the musician released the first single, "Devil In Drag," this Friday, the 18th, which is also the opening track of the new album.
The album features Paul Logue on acoustic rhythm guitar, Marco Sfogli on lead guitar, keyboardist Christian Pulkkinen , and James LaBrie's son, Chance , on drums. In an interview given in December, the musician said the album was inspired by 70s music and names like Led Zeppelin , Pink Floyd , and Aerosmith (via Blabbermouth ).
According to LaBrie, the name Beautiful Shade Of Grey came from the two main themes present in the album. "Many of the lyrics speak of the beauty of human beings and many deal with the gray spaces that lie in between. You're not exactly happy, but you're not sad either," commented the musician (via Blabbermouth ).
