He also explains the reason for his departure.
Drummer James Kottak appeared on Mitch Lafon's Rock Talk podcast and discussed his departure from the Scorpions.
Kotak reports that after 35 years of intense Rock and Roll, he was tired and needed to take care of his health.
In 2016, it was reported that the drummer was leaving the band to fight his alcoholism.
“I’m swimming, cycling, hiking, and enjoying life. And I’m spending more time with the kids – that’s really important. They’ve grown up – they’re 27, 24, and 20. But it was time to rest and figure out where I’m going.”
Regarding the decision to leave the band, he said it was something everyone agreed on. He explained that he wasn't feeling 100% well, so they called Mikkey Dee to play at some shows , but when the South American tour was finalized, he realized he couldn't handle it anymore.
"I am very grateful for the time I had with the Scorpions. I mean, it was a dream come true."
