Like many other families of musicians , James Hetfield has a son who has decided to follow in his footsteps and dedicate himself to rock. The young Castor Hetfield , 21 years old, plays drums in a band called Bastardane and – like many other children of rock stars – says he finds the constant comparisons to his father's work in Metallica .

In an interview with Savannah Now , Castor said that having a father in the same industry doesn't bother him, but admitted that it's "a little annoying" to have his own individual identity ignored. "Obviously, we are who we are and he is who he is. We're making our own style of music," he lamented.

The band doesn't seem to know exactly what style it is. According to Castor, Bastardane has tried to define a genre for their music, but hasn't reached a conclusion yet. He mentions Corrosion of Conformity , Opeth , Tool , Soundgarden and Alice in Chains . Nothing like Metallica.

“When you search for our band online, my dad’s face pops up everywhere. That’s kind of weird to me,” he continues. “We are ourselves and we want to forge our own path. We’re not trying to ride on anyone else’s coattails.”
