James Hetfield: "Nobody in the world is more Rock N' Roll than Lemmy."

Hetfield talks about music in tribute to Lemmy

In an interview with an American radio station, Metallica vocalist James Hetfield spoke about the importance of Motörhead in Rock N' Roll, and was asked if the band should be in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame:

“There are so many incredible bands that haven’t yet been recognized by the organization that whether they get in or not is none of my business. But it’s just a small recognition, a tiny bit. And does it really mean anything to be there? I don’t know. But for some of these bands it could mean the world. But absolutely, and unfortunately, with Lemmy’s death it’s really important for me to see Motörhead being recognized there, because there’s no one on this planet more Rock N’ Roll than Lemmy and Motörhead.”

The guitarist then spoke about the song on Metallica’s new album “Hardwired… To Self Destruct” that was written in tribute to Lemmy:

“The song is called Murder One, which was the name of Lemmy’s amplifier, his favorite stage amp. And I loved being murdered every night by that thing, man. He was such a huge icon, a massive inspiration to all of us as a band. We certainly wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Motörhead. And you know, seeing your idol, the immortal one, reveal his mortality, hit us really hard. So I felt that, in terms of lyrics, it made sense to acknowledge him and everything he meant in our lives.”
