In this week's Wikimetal poll, James Hetfield was voted the best rhythm guitarist, with 55% of the votes. Malcolm Young and Max Cavalera came in second and third place, with 17% and 12% of the votes, respectively.
Hetfield started playing guitar at age 14, after having learned piano. The guitarist cites Aerosmith as one of his biggest influences, and one of the reasons why he wanted to learn guitar.
