Jake E. Lee , former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne , revealed that he saved his dog during the incident in which it was shot in Las Vegas on October 15th.
Lee was hit by three shots and, thankfully, none of the bullets struck his vital organs. Immediately afterwards, the musician was transferred to the ICU to fully recover from the incident.
Last Thursday, the 28th, Jake E. Lee posted a photo of Coco, the guitarist's dog, on his Facebook page via NME ):
“I’ve been debating whether to speak publicly about the incident where I was shot and decided what would be best for me. Somehow, documenting what happened might help me get through it. My dog and I were about 15 meters away when we heard gunshots. I realized they weren’t pointing the gun at me, but at my dog. I threw the end of the leash at Coco and yelled for him to come home. He was a good boy and came back home.”
Details of the shooting that killed Jake E. Lee
The guitarist detailed the injuries he sustained from the shooting:
“The first shot hit me in the left forearm. It landed 2.5 cm below the elbow on the lower part and exited through the upper part. It felt like a burn, but not very painful. Just a slight burning sensation. I thought it was a scratch, and thankfully, it didn't hit any bones or my elbow joint. What did hit healed quickly. The scars aren't large or very deep. And all my fingers are still moving.”
"In the spirit of gratitude, I am thankful that my dog was not harmed and that the injuries to my arm were minimal. Unlike other wounds that will be addressed in a second part."
Jake E. Lee was Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist from 1983 to 1988, with whom he recorded Bark at the Moon (1983) and Ultimate Sin (1986). However, Lee had the difficult task of replacing Randy Rhoads , who died in a plane crash in 1982.
The guitarist was present alongside Osbourne at the first edition of Rock in Rio in 1985 .
