Jacoby Shaddix , lead singer of Papa Roach , spoke about Linkin Park 's return to the stage in a recent interview on The Bailey Show .

Shaddix said [ via Blabbermouth ] that he loved the song “The Emptiness Machine” and that he “put it on repeat” and “is really enjoying it”. He also expressed excitement at seeing Collin Brittain , who had been his band's producer for the past eight years, take over the drums for Linkin Park, replacing Rob Bourdon .

“He’s like, ‘Dude, I have an opportunity I can’t pass up.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, go for it, man. People want to hear this [song].’ And it’s amazing that their music can be celebrated,” said Jacoby.

Shaddix also reflected on the polarization surrounding the continuity of bands after the loss of a key member. He cited the example of Stone Temple Pilots , who had Chester Bennington as a replacement after the death of Scott Weiland .

“Chester carried the flag of rock and roll. So it makes sense that someone should take on that role in the absence of a vocalist,” he said. For Jacoby, this is about bringing a message of hope to the audience.

He was also asked if, from a musical standpoint, it's generally agreed that the music should continue even after one of the members is no longer able to continue. Jacoby admitted that this evokes complex emotions.

“I saw Linkin Park come back with a new vocalist and it affected me. I asked myself: 'If I die, do I want my band to continue?' I'm torn. I don't have a clear answer. But I plan to stick around; I hope to live a long time. I'm like a cockroach, I'm not going anywhere.”
