In the most recent episode of Saturday Night Live , which aired last Saturday (6), Jack Black , known for his comedic and musical talent, took over hosting the show and starred in one of the most memorable moments of the night.
During the skit titled “ Goth Kid on Vacation ” Black delivered an affectionate yet hilarious parody of Gerard Way , lead singer of the band My Chemical Romance . The actor appeared in character with the singer's typical dramatic look and performed a comedic version of the iconic “ Welcome to the Black Parade ” a hit released by the band in 2006.
The performance plays with the stereotype of the emo phase of the 2000s, mixing theatricality, exaggeration, and a touch of nostalgia. Complete with heavy makeup, a marching band uniform, and an intense expression, Jack Black stole the show and won over the audience with his fun tribute.
The skit quickly went viral on social media, with fans of both SNL and My Chemical Romance praising Black's performance and charisma. Once again, the artist showed that he can combine humor and music like few others.
