During a Five Finger Death Punch in Denver on Friday the 14th, vocalist Ivan Moody surprised the audience with an announcement of his farewell to heavy metal.

The singer called two of his children onto the stage and hinted that the main motivation for his decision was to spend more time with his family. The farewell, however, is not expected to be immediate, as he promised to make at least one more album with Five Finger Death Punch.

“For the last 15 years of my life I have traveled the world and seen every country, every city on this planet at least twice,” Moody reflected in his speech. “And in the meantime, as many of you who are parents must know, I have lost a lot of time with my children.”

"So I made a deal with them today and I'm going to keep it. After this year, I'm only going to make one more album with Five Finger Death Punch and then I'm going to retire from heavy metal," he concluded.

It's worth remembering that in 2017 Ivan Moody made a similar promise during a show in the Netherlands , announcing that it would be his last performance with the band. In August, however, he returned to Five Finger Death Punch and apologized for having "lost control again".

The band's most recent album, AfterLife , was released in August of this year. Check out the moment when Ivan Moody spoke about his farewell to heavy metal:
