Five Finger Death Punch vocalist Ivan Moody released a lengthy statement denying rumors that he would be leaving the band due to side projects.
The rumors surfaced after Moody stated in an interview that he is excited about his new band Villain, saying: “To be honest, Death Punch and I have reached a crossroads, and we are very proud of what we have done. It has been years and years of work. But it’s time for us to step away and do something else.”
Following this statement, several news outlets reported that Moody was leaving FFDP. In response, the vocalist wrote a statement promising he had not left the band. Here's an excerpt:
"It's no secret that this has been a difficult year for me and my bandmates in Five Finger Death Punch. When you put everything you have into the music, on stage and off, it can be very frustrating when the music you've worked so hard on doesn't get to be heard. I know I share that frustration with our fans as well, who are expecting new music from us.".
It's true that Five Finger Death Punch has reached a crossroads. And that crossroads is that we will never again let anything or anyone stop us from releasing music for our fans.
The lawsuit we faced against Prospect Park, who held our new album hostage, was very hard for me. I was in rehab when Prospect Park decided to sue the band last year, and it was very difficult for me.
Yesterday I made a statement that was taken out of context by the media. A media that is always looking for headlines that get more clicks. The truth is that I want to start a side project like Corey Taylor did with Stone Sour or Maynard did with A Perfect Circle, and I want to do it when the lawsuit against Prospect Park is over.
"THIS DOESN'T MEAN I'M LEAVING FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH!"
