The band did not comment
According to the website The Star Online, the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) Youth is protesting the Megadeth concert in the country, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
Party spokesman Hishamuddin Abdul Karim says that the permission given to Megadeth to perform the show did not take into account the “negative effects that bands like this have on their audience.” The party further argues that the permission was granted only due to an oversight by the authorities, who ended up violating the entertainment regulations established by the country's Department of Islamic Development.
Karim also questioned what benefits the event would bring to the country's population, suggesting it would only be an opportunity to "witness unhealthy cultures.".
Despite the party denying involvement in the distribution, pamphlets are being spread with a photo of leader Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi calling on people to protest at the event.
Megadeth was banned from performing in the country in 2001, and the party says the ban should remain in effect. The show is scheduled for tomorrow, the 4th, at Negara Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
According to the newspaper The Malay Mail, last year the same party protested the visit of pop star Selena Gomez to the country, citing her 'sensuality'.
