Michael Bishop , better known as the monstrous Blothar , vocalist of the metal band GWAR , thought Steve Harris looked like an old woman, but quickly apologized for the comment.

Iron Maiden 's influence on GWAR's discography during an interview with The Metal Voice (via Ultimate Guitar ), Bishop said that the band is definitely inspired by their mascot Eddie.

“Well, I mean – on Eddie, yes. Steve Harris is basically an old lady; they’re all just a bunch of old British women now. At least that’s how they act, right? I’m just kidding… I love Iron Maiden, but it’s very, very strange to me that Steve Harris (…) has a problem with punk rock for some reason, especially when you can obviously hear it in some of the things they were doing in the Killers ,” he said about the bassist’s statements about “hating” the style.

At the end of the interview, the GWAR vocalist made a point of apologizing. “Well, first of all, I want to apologize to Steve Harris. I didn’t mean to call you old. It’s just that you look like one and you drink tea, so I don’t know,” he said. “We love Iron Maiden, we love Ronnie James Dio . We love heavy metal. That’s the best thing humanity has ever given the world: that kind of music.”
