Band members give statements via Facebook

Iron Maiden 's official page posted a message in tribute to Clive Burr, drummer on the band's first three albums, who passed away this morning. The statement expresses the feelings of Steve Harris and Bruce Dickinson regarding the loss of their colleague.

Steve Harris said, “This is extremely sad news. Clive was an old friend of all of us. An incredible person and a great drummer, who made a valuable contribution to Maiden when we were starting out. This is a sad day for everyone in the band and around him. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his partner Mimi and his family.”

Bruce Dickinson recalled the time he met Clive and said, “Even during the most difficult phases of multiple sclerosis, Clive never lost his sense of humor. This is a very sad day.”

Clive Burr died at age 56 while sleeping. He had been battling multiple sclerosis for many years.
