Iron Maiden: Simon Dawson is the band's new drummer.

Dawson is also a member of British Lion, Steve Harris' band.

Iron Maiden has officially announced, via their social media channels, that Simon Dawson , drummer of British Lion , is the band's newest member. The name of Nicko McBrain was revealed this Sunday, December 8th, 2024, the morning after the last two shows of The Future Past Tour in São Paulo, on December 6th and 7th at Allianz Park.

“As The Future Past Tour comes to a close after 81 shows for over 1.4 million fans, from Ljubljana to the Coachella Valley and from Western Australia to São Paulo, Iron Maiden is pleased to announce that in 2025, taking over on drums will be a familiar name to many fans – Simon Dawson, former session drummer and rhythm section partner of Steve Harris for the past 12 years with British Lion. A native of Suffolk, England, Simon began working with Steve in 2012.”

"He debuted on three tracks from British Lion's debut album and on all the songs from their critically acclaimed second album, The Burning , as well as participating in several subsequent tours in the US, UK, Europe, Australia, Japan, New Zealand and, most recently, Mexico and South America."

"Iron Maiden will celebrate their 50th anniversary next year with The Run For Your Lives Tour , which kicks off in Budapest on May 27th," the post concludes.
