Iron Maiden reveals cover art, tracklist, and release date for 'Senjutsu', the band's new album

For weeks, there were mysteries and clues hidden in the covers of the band's discography… And the big day has arrived! Iron Maiden announced this Monday, the 19th, the name, cover, tracklist, and release date of their 17th studio album.

Following the release of the highly anticipated "The Writing on The Wall ," the band's first album in six years, the group has revealed the title, release date, and cover art for the successor to The Book Of Souls : the new album is called Senjutsu .

Although the band has been exploring the concept of Belshazzar's Feast since the beginning of the promotion of the new project, the title proves the theory that the band will explore the theme of Japan in the new project, starting with Eddie Samurai in the music video for the first single.

The project promises epic songs, with several tracks exceeding seven minutes in length. “We recorded in early 2019 during a break from the Legacy of the Beast so we could maximize our touring but still have a long period before release to prepare great album artwork and something special for the video,” said Bruce Dickinson in a statement. “The songs are very varied, and some of them are quite long. There are also one or two songs that sound quite different from our usual style, and I think Maiden fans will be surprised – in a good way, I hope!”

“We recorded this album the same way we recorded The Book Of Souls , where we would write a song, rehearse it, and then put it all together immediately while it was fresh in our minds,” commented Steve Harris . “There are some very complex songs on this album, it took a lot of work to get them to sound exactly how we wanted them, so the process was sometimes very challenging, but Kevin [Shirley] is great at capturing the essence of the band and I think it was worth it! I’m very proud of the result and I can’t wait for the fans to hear it.”

Senjutsu will be released on September 3rd, with various formats available: standard or deluxe double CD, book format, special edition vinyl with 3 discs, and a complete box set with CD, Blu-Ray and exclusive digital content. Pre-orders will be available starting this Wednesday, July 21st.
