Last Saturday, the 23rd, Iron Maiden kicked off the 2026 leg of the Run For Your Lives Tour, celebrating the band's five-decade career. Held at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece, the performance featured a novelty in the setlist: the performance of "Infinite Dreams" after 38 years.
The song, which is part of the album Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, had not been part of Iron Maiden since December 12, 1988, at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, on the final date of the tour promoting that album.
“Infinite Dreams” was the only new addition to the 17-track setlist. The list includes songs from the band's first nine albums, including tracks from the Paul Di'Anno — such as “Phantom of the Opera”, “Wrathchild”, “Killers” and “Murders in the Rue Morgue” —, classics like “Fear of the Dark”, “The Trooper”, “Aces High” and “Wasted Years”, as well as epics like “Seventh Son of a Seventh Son”, “Powerslave” and “Rime of the Ancient Mariner”.
Bruce Dickinson interacted with fans before revealing music
Before announcing the track, Bruce Dickinson stated that, although the song in question wasn't "Alexander The Great," it was something the band hadn't played in a long time. The Iron Maiden vocalist even joked that, upon going to bed, fans would encounter "endless dreams," thus beginning the song.
“We couldn’t think of a better place in Europe to start this tour. We know some of you have seen a bit of this show before. We thought we’d do something different just for the next song, because it’s a track we haven’t played in many, many years. No, it’s not ‘Alexander The Great’. But it will be when you go to bed tonight — your ‘Infinite Dreams’,” he declared [transcription via Blabbermouth].
