Iron Maiden is expected to open Rock in Rio 2021, according to information from journalist José Norberto Flesch on his YouTube channel.
Iron Maiden played on the opening night of Rock In Rio in 1985, at the festival's first edition.
This time, Iron Maiden would play on the night of September 24, 2021, the opening date of Rock In Rio 2021, according to Flesch.
If confirmed, this will be Iron Maiden's fifth appearance at Rock in Rio, following their participation in the festival in 1985, 2001, 2013 and the most recent edition in 2019.
The journalist also added a caveat, stating that this schedule could be altered if another major band could only play on September 24th. According to Flesch, Iron Maiden, being "a nice band," would give up their opening night slot.
The tour that should bring the group to Brazil is the Legacy of the Beast Tour, which had its 2020 dates postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
