Senjutsu Iron Maiden 's most recent album , has managed to divide opinions among fans worldwide, despite critical acclaim. Content creator and influencer Barba , from the Canal Barbônico channel, described the album as "tedious" and expressed a preference for Vera Cruz Edu Falaschi 's first solo album .
In a new video, Barba discussed the albums he considers the best of 2021, ranging from bands like Carcass and Nervosa , to commenting on the controversy surrounding Maiden.
“I tell you without any fear, Senjutsu didn’t spark any interest in me,” he began, according to a transcript from Wikimetal . “It’s not a bad album, I felt that Iron Maiden did what they wanted and fuck it. However, from the third song onwards, I lost interest in listening to the album (…). You have to listen with modern ears. I said this before and I continue to affirm it: Maiden doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone.”
Continuing with the list of the best of the last year, Barba indicated Vera Cruz for having "more energy and less progressiveness," highlighting the guitar duo Roberto Barros and Diogo Mafra . "Even I, who am not a die-hard power metal fan, admit that, technically speaking, this album is the best release of 2021," he explained.
