Last Saturday, June 28th, Iron Maiden played their highly anticipated show at London's Olympic Stadium. The performance was part of the Run For Your Lives Tour Iron Maiden 's five-decade career .
More than 75,000 fans were in attendance [via Metal Injection ], setting a new attendance record – outside of festivals – for the band in the UK. As usual, the setlist remained unchanged.
For bassist and founder Steve Harris , the performance had a special significance, since West Ham is his favorite team and he was also born in the Stratford neighborhood.
During the performance, vocalist Bruce Dickinson declared that "it was a very special night" and that Harris was "coming home."
On the morning of Monday, June 30th, Iron Maiden thanked everyone who attended their show in London via their social media channels.
"London, it was a night that will forever be etched in our memories. Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts."
