Iron Maiden: Bruce Dickinson says musicians are fragile organisms.

He also reveals what his voice care routine is like.

Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson is launching his autobiography, What Does This Button Do?, and as part of the promotion, he attended an event in London, England, where he answered some questions from fans.

One of them asked him his secret to keeping his voice in perfect condition, and Bruce, after thanking him for the compliment, replied, “I think it’s common sense. When you get sick, you need to have the courage to say, ‘No. Sorry, I need to cancel this show,’ because if you’re really sick and don’t take care of yourself, you can permanently damage your voice.”

He concludes by saying that he needs to sleep a lot during the tour to rest and not strain his voice. "Which means I'm a boring person, but when I'm not on tour, I can talk as much as I want."

Another fan asked how Iron Maiden is still together after so many years. “I’d like to know too ,” he replied, “ we musicians are fragile organisms. Even making a lot of noise and things like that, the relationship between band members is fragile. But with Maiden we were very lucky that everyone was born from the same mothership, Iron Maiden, and our loyalty is totally to the band and to ourselves. That makes life in a band easy in terms of getting along with your colleagues, because everyone has their space and we have the same goal, which is to put on an incredible show or an incredible album, or anything like that. That’s the secret.”
