During an Iron Maiden in Dublin, Nicko McBrain was hit by a gong struck by Bruce Dickinson .
The vocalist uses a heavy baton to strike a gong during "Alexander the Great," and the instrument hangs just behind Nicko McBrain's drum kit.
During the performance in Ireland, Dickinson climbed onto the platform above the drums to play the gong, and the heavy object detached from the structure where it was suspended.
From the images, the gong appears to hit McBrain in the back, but the impact doesn't seem to have been serious enough to interrupt the drummer's performance. The scare also elicited some laughter from Bruce Dickinson.
