Iron Maiden becomes ambassador for National Album Day 2025.

The British event takes place on October 18th, celebrates the album format, and will feature Iron Maiden, Architects, Wolf Alice, and Nova Twins as ambassadors.

National Album Day 2025 celebrates rock with a heavyweight lineup. Among the main ambassadors are heavy metal giants Iron Maiden , alongside names like Architects , Wolf Alice , and Nova Twins . Scheduled for October 18th, the celebration will have rock as its special theme.

Since its inception in 2018, the BPI and ERA have organized the event to highlight the cultural importance of the album. Furthermore, the celebration has the support of BBC Radio 2 as an official broadcast partner. Consequently, National Album Day has established itself as an annual milestone for British music.

Iron Maiden and the power of the album

Iron Maiden, celebrating 50 years in the music industry in 2025, has always championed the importance of albums. In fact, the band treats each record as a true event. This tradition began with the independent release of The Soundhouse Tapes in 1979 and continues with their most recent works. Each new album, for example, inspires world tours, fan meet-and-greets, and the debut of a new version of their mascot, Eddie.

In this sense, vocalist Bruce Dickinson reinforces this passion: “Albums matter. They always have, not only for Maiden, but also for all of our solo projects. The feeling of seeing the vinyl, the CD or even the cassette tape for the first time never goes away. It’s incredible to see fans valuing this experience again, even in the digital age.”

Similarly, manager Rod Smallwood highlights the central role of albums in the band's trajectory: “Before the internet, it was the album that did all the heavy lifting: it brought new songs, announced tours, presented the cover concept and, of course, revealed a new Eddie. When we released The Number of the Beast in 1982, we were still finishing the album while already hitting the road. It was a different time, but a unique experience of connecting with the fans.”

Other champions of 2025

In addition to Iron Maiden, the event also features support from other big names in rock. For example, the band Architects, icons of British metalcore, are known for landmark albums such as Holy Hell (2018) and For Those That Wish To Exist (2021). Another highlight is Wolf Alice, one of the most acclaimed groups in the British alternative scene. Finally, the duo Nova Twins represents the new generation with their mix of punk, rap, and heavy riffs.

Architects vocalist Sam Carter shares this view and emphasizes the album's value: “Nothing compares to putting on a vinyl record, having a coffee, and listening to the whole thing. Every album in our career transports me back to the moment we recorded it. Albums are the soundtracks of our lives, and I hope they continue to have that importance for the fans.”

The importance of National Album Day

With the support of important industry entities, National Album Day reaffirms the cultural legacy of the album. Therefore, the 2025 edition promises to be even more remarkable, celebrating rock in all its forms, from metal to punk, including indie and hard rock.
