In nearly half a century of existence, Iron Maiden has established itself as one of the greatest heavy metal bands on the planet. With an extensive discography, the group's revolutionary legacy extends beyond music and has definitively changed culture with the creation of the legendary mascot Eddie the Head .
In a mission to decide the ranking of the best album covers by the British band, from worst to best, the Wikimetal voted on the artwork that graced the band's 16 studio albums. This vote was also the subject of the latest episode of our podcast , which celebrates the albums Piece of Mind and Fear of the Dark .
The result confirms some trends in the fanbase. The top two spots on the list align with the Wikimetal readers in 2016, but the last spot on the podium is different.
Derek Riggs ' artwork , responsible for creating Eddie and all the band's illustrations until 1990, dominates the Top 10, but more recent projects by other artists also made it into the top spots.
Blaze Bayley 's era with the group, between 1994 and 1999, failed to please even in terms of album covers.
