Thursday night, with strangely similar hair – we both have bleached streaks on the right side – Kevin John Wasserman , who personally expressed that he prefers to be known as Noodles, and that Kevin is only used by his wife when she scolds him, in a room lit with guitars and posters in Los Angeles, and me on a hot, atypical São Paulo night.

During a quick but energetic conversation – like at an Offspring , with pauses between songs – the guitarist from one of the iconic rock bands of the 90s and 2000s gave his take on the group's new album, SUPERCHARGED (2024).

Wikimetal: The Offspring recently released the track “ Come To Brazil ”. What motivated you to write this song?

Noodles: Our Brazilian fans keep telling us this, and it's an honor to be able to fulfill this wish! We're super flattered, so we decided to write a 'lovesong' about it. We love our Brazilian fans, we know about the heavy rock bands you have there, it's really great. The whole song was conceived for Brazilian fans, the football chant vibe, thinking about the shows, it sounds beautiful live.

WM: The band also released a new album this year, SUPERCHARGED . The lyrics on that album touch on some interesting subjects. What were you trying to evoke in the listener?

Noodles: I think all our albums touch on different things, sadness, silliness, anger. This album is more upbeat – we talk about love in a fun pop-punk way. We also talk about achieving your goals regardless of people who try to negatively interfere with your path.

WM: Is there a song on this new album that has an interesting story?

Noodles: I think each song points in a different direction. “Looking out for number one” points to certain people in politics, certain businesspeople and celebrities, influencers who don't necessarily use their means for good causes. “Truth and Fiction” talks about how we no longer know what is a lie or the truth.

WM: Next year, you're coming to Brazil . What are your expectations for these upcoming shows?

Noodles: We want to put on a show full of hits; it's always sad to leave some songs out, but unfortunately it happens. We're thinking of something big in terms of production; we want to make everyone happy. But "Come to Brazil" will be one of the songs played – even though it's a bit more challenging because of all the rhythms. The solo is wonderful, I can nail it, but we're practicing the rest to make it look good live (laughs). Our drummer ( Brandon Pertzborn ) will love it, I'm sure, he's phenomenal.
