The Dead Daisies

Exclusive: We spoke with John Corabi of The Dead Daisies: “We need to take a stand against all politicians.”

The Dead Daisies' new album is now available

If you like hard rock, The Dead Daisies is a band that can't be missing from your playlist. Formed by musicians who have played with Whitesnake, Dio, Thin Lizzy , and Journey , the band is a true supergroup. We talked to vocalist John Corabi , former member of Mötley Crüe and Ratt , about the new album, Burn It Down , and the band's plans.

Burn It Down , like their previous album, Make Some Noise , was produced by Marti Frederiken. “I think every great band has a producer who helps them translate their ideas into songs. The Beatles did it with George Martin, Alice Cooper and Kiss had Bob Ezrin, AC/DC and Def Leppard had Mutta Lang… We have Marti! He’s a great producer and songwriter.”

The single “Rise Up” features powerful lyrics criticizing government leaders. “The lyrics speak of the division among people in the United States. It’s frustrating to see people arguing and being mean to each other about politics, racial division, economic class, and ‘moral issues.’ The song’s goal is to stop fighting and take a stand against all politicians.”.

Revolución , an album released in 2015, was inspired by a tour the band did in Cuba. The shows took place after an agreement between President Obama and the country, which lifted travel restrictions. “It was absolutely brilliant! We had so much fun. The people were so warm, hospitable and excited to see us. The music there was eye-opening, and we can't wait to play in Cuba again.”

The band also has the Daisyland project, which consists of an acoustic show experience for some fans. “Daisyland is a way for us to meet the fans before the shows, mingle, take photos, give autographs and do an acoustic show. It's our way of saying 'thank you for all the support'. It's going very well.”.

Corabi also has a solo career, having released the album John Corabi Unplugged in 2012. “I’ve actually started working on some things with some friends […] I hope to start writing new music with my son, Ian, as soon as I have a break from The Dead Daisies.”

The band is touring North America and Europe until the end of 2018, but "We are trying to put together a tour of South America.".
