The Institution O Grande Vazio (2024, Artico Music) , last Friday, the 28th
In a press release, Institution explains the gap between O Grande Vazio and their last album of new material, released in 2020: “We were forced to cancel our tour, which already had about 20 shows, and everyone focused on 'surviving,' since most of the band works in the arts. When we were able to rehearse again in 2022, our 'newest' album was already two years old, and we felt the need to record new music.”
In addition to releasing the EP, the group recorded a music video for the 4th track, “Lapso,” which they describe as: “The song 'Lapso' corresponds to the logic that, if there is no longer any way to overcome the structures of capitalism, then we have failed. Fatalistic submission seems to be the only safe path to a future that is increasingly appearing to be cancelled.”
To celebrate the release of their EP, Institution will be playing a free show on July 8th in São Paulo. The event, held at FENDA 315 in the Perdizes neighborhood, is scheduled to begin at 7 PM and will feature opening acts by the band Lótico and the DJ duo Too Dead to Die .
Recorded at High Five studio and produced and mixed by Rodolfo Duarte , the band's bassist, the group expands the use of synthesizers and electronic samplers to create a disruptive atmosphere, while still retaining their personal touch: good old heavy and metallic hardcore.
This project follows the albums Ruptura do Visível (2020, Hearts Bleed Blue) and Desolation Times (2015, Hearts Bleed Blue) and features 4 new, totally chaotic tracks. The 2nd track of the project, “Eulogia a um Futuro Esquecido”, features a special guest appearance by Jair Naves on vocals.
