Andre Matos , former vocalist of the bands Angra, Viper, and Shaman , is being honored with the creation of Heavy Metal Day in the state of Paraná. The date will be celebrated on the anniversary of the musician's death, June 8th.
The idea for creating the day came from Congressman Douglas Fabrício . Regarding the initiative, the politician emphasized the importance of Andre Matos in putting Brazil on the rock and heavy metal map, and, moreover, the fact that the state of Paraná has a significant number of fans of these genres. With this, Douglas intends to boost state tourism by creating events and festivals to commemorate this date.
The state of Paraná approved Heavy Metal Day, followed by the implementation of the date in cities like São Paulo, in a decree issued in July of last year.
