Impavid Colossus is preparing for the release of their debut album, Prologue , on July 13th via Wikimetal Music . Meanwhile, bassist Guilherme Malanga was invited by the Papa G's House to discuss the creative process and the origin of the band's name.
When asked about the power of the name, the musician explained that the term was taken from the Brazilian National Anthem, a translation of the term "impávido colosso" (fearless colossus). "It's a little different and original, so we thought it would be cool," Malanga explained. "For Brazilians, it's 100% recognizable when they hear it. [Impávido] means fearless, courageous, and colossus refers to the size of the country.".
The band from São Paulo blends various rock styles into their sound, with grunge, punk, metal, and hard rock among the genres already explored. “We have many influences, each of the members, we try to create this different mix with fast drums and types of vocals,” he continued. “That’s what we wanted: to bring different things because that’s what we are, everyone listens to various bands. It even depends on your mood; you have different moods and listen to different types of music. It’s cool and fun to mix all of that.”.
Besides Guilherme Malanga on bass, Impavid Colossus also consists of Enrico Minelli ( vocals), Marcelo Barchetta (guitar), Felipe Ruiz (guitar), and Alexandre Iafelice (drums). Before forming the band, each member had already forged their own paths in music in renowned bands on the national and international scene, such as Cruz, Owl Company, Rancore , and Supla .
