Marty Friedman announced Drama, his 16th solo album , for release on May 17th via Frontiers Music Srl , and took the opportunity to release the opening track "Illumination" as the first single from the new work.

At six and a half minutes, "Illumination" is an instrumental piece that showcases Friedman's mastery of the strings. 

In a post on Instagram, Frontiers Music Srl reported that for the first time the Megadeth guitarist used both vintage and modern guitars, "providing a pure delight for music lovers."

Drama was produced by Friedman himself, recorded in Italy and mastered in Tokyo. The album has 12 tracks, only two of which feature vocals: “Dead of Winter” with Chris Brooks and “2 Rebeldes” with Steven Baquero Vargas .

In a press release, Marty Friedman stated that he plans to do a promotional tour for Drama , but no dates have been confirmed.
