Ihsahn, from Emperor, explores different sounds in his new solo single.

“Arcana Imperii” is part of the musician's upcoming album, Àmr.

Ihsahn, the legendary mind behind the influential Black Metal Emperor, returns in 2018 with his seventh solo album, Àmr , scheduled for release on May 4th by Spinefarm Records. And the album's first single, "Arcana Imperii," shows that the work explores new sonic territories.

Maintaining a balance between extreme and fluid, characteristics he has carried since his debut with Adversary in 2006, Ihsahn combines warlike facets with a good dose of contemporary synthesizers.

“Aware that the form would be somewhat similar to what I did on the previous album [ Arktis , from 2016], and knowing that I compose in a certain way, I wanted to change the arrangements this time ,” said the Norwegian about Àmr . “So, instead of using strings and orchestration, I focused on synthesizers and more direct sounds.”
