Massacration , a comedic metal band formed by comedians from the MTV show Hermes e Renato , had the essential support of Iggor Cavalera at the beginning of their stage career.
In 2004, the band led by Detonator , a character played by Bruno Sutter , was invited to open for Sepultura , a surprising decision at the time due to its mockery of metal stereotypes. In addition to inviting Massacration to open shows, Iggor also insisted on being the drummer for these performances under the alter ego El Covero .
“You have Iggor Cavalera, a guy who’s an idol to all of us…”, Sutter recalled in an interview with The Wikimetal Happy Hour . “That story is incredible. He used to wear a mucha lucha mask, Mexican wrestling, covering all his tattoos with a shirt to do that really metal thing, the mysterious drummer thing. We ended up adopting that maxim and every drummer in Massacration is masked.”
At the time, Cavalera justified the choice of the humorous band for the Sepulfest festival in an interview with Folha de S. Paulo . "They have everything to do with Sepultura because we also have a mortal hatred for idiot metalheads, for radicals who don't listen to anything different, and for the stereotypes they satirize," declared the drummer.
