"We hope that everyone involved that day will be brought to justice to be investigated and held accountable for their actions," they wrote

Last Wednesday, the 6th, the invasion of the United States Capitol in support of Donald Trump was certainly the topic of the week. And for the metal community, the participation of Iced Earth guitarist Jon Schaffer in the act , and now being officially wanted by the Washington police and the FBI , became a topic of discussion that has now received an official statement from the band.

On bassist Luke Appleton , a picture of him with vocalist Stu Block , drummer Brent Smedley , and guitarist Jake Dreyer , reads: “We want to thank everyone who has sent words of support over the past few days. Some of you are concerned about our silence, which we understand. We need some time to properly process the information and uncover some facts before making a statement.”

“We absolutely do NOT tolerate or support the riots or acts of violence in which protesters were involved on January 6 at the United States Capitol building,” they clarify. “We expect that all those involved that day will be brought to justice to be investigated and held accountable for their actions.”

"With broken hearts, we are sending our love and compassion to all who felt the pain of the events of January 6th. We are deeply saddened and send our best wishes to the families of the lives lost that day. There are truly no adequate words to console you. Just know that we are with you in your shock, sadness, and pain. Much love to you all. Stu, Luke, Jake, Brent."
