Gillan rejects meeting

In an interview with a German magazine, Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan spoke about his relationship with the band's former guitarist, Ritchie Blackmore:

“I think Ritchie never really grew up. I mean, I got over those problems when I was forty. I should have gotten over them in my twenties ,” Gillan said. “It’s a very fine line between self-confidence and arrogance. It’s a very fine line between all of those things.”

However, Gillan said he has been in communication with his former bandmate: “Yes, Ritchie and I are at peace. We are in communication. We resolved many of our issues that have nothing to do with our relationship. Management things that divided us, that sort of thing. Boring things, but important. With that resolved, there’s a lot more goodwill than in the past.”

Asked if he could imagine a reunion with Ritchie Blackmore, Gillan replied: “I have a good imagination! But you know, when you get divorced, it’s hard to go back. You always respect the memory and nostalgia, but to do it again? Probably not.”
