Musician talks about his friendship with Bennington

Korn frontman Jonathan Davis spoke about Chester Bennington and his struggle with depression.

Bennington committed suicide in July of this year , and since then numerous tributes have been made to him.

“I understand depression and everything he was feeling ,” Davis told Kerrang. “It’s always those who seem happy who are suffering. It’s a horrible illness that makes things unbearable. When I found out what happened, I was speechless.”

“I loved his smile. I was always excited to see him again. When we were at the same festivals, he always made a point of coming to find me, and I loved that. Chester had an incredible journey. I loved him.”

The vocalist also spoke about Chester's talent with music: “His lyrics were easy to relate to. On a lyrical level, Chester talked about many things that people feel, and when you have that experience with music, it's a relief.”

He concludes by saying, “When you help so many people like him, you end up forgetting about yourself. We are like superheroes to children who are hurting – we must be proof that everything will get better. We should have more people like Chester in the world.”
