In an interview with The Wikimetal Happy Hour , Hugo Mariutti spoke about his opinion regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence in current music.
Singers like Kurt Cobain and Freddie Mercury recently made headlines for having their voices digitally replicated and inserted into songs they never actually sang in life, such as "Everlong" and "Evidências".
Several metal musicians have already commented on the matter and expressed their opposition to this practice. Andreas Kisser specifically commented on the use of images of deceased people , stating that he finds it "an empty pursuit" to try to bring someone back to life using technology. "I don't understand the point of it. This path to eternal life is very strange," he explained.
Meanwhile, vocalist Simone Simmons of Epica opined that the practice of inserting artists' voices into songs through artificial intelligence ends up creating a product that "has no soul" and where it's impossible to "fake emotion."
Hugo Mariutti shares this point of view. “Music for me is a very personal thing,” he comments in a conversation with Larissa Catherine Oliveira . “It involves feeling, it involves emotion… I have nothing against those who use it or don’t use it, but I, personally, don’t have much desire to listen to that stuff.”
The guitarist says he refused to listen to an unofficial Oasis produced by artificial intelligence and also briefly commented on the use of the voice of Andre Matos , a dear friend and colleague from Shaman , through these tools. "Things involving Andre also, for me, touch on other things that, as you said, aren't just about the music," he pointed out.
