Get to know Hugo Mariutti beyond Shaman with the single “Ghosts”

Musician delves into English post-punk and nostalgic sounds on new solo album.

Hugo Mariutti is a widely recognized name in Brazilian metal. The guitarist and singer has a solid career with Shaman , a band he was part of from its founding until its end in January of this year. But are you familiar with his work beyond metal?

Now focusing on his personal career, the musician presents his first releases and the most challenging project of his solo career to date. Called The Last Dance , Hugo's third album has a sound heavily influenced by British music: both ballads from the 1950s and 1960s, as well as post-punk and Britpop from artists ranging from Gerry & The Pacemakers to Slowthai.

A good example of what to expect from this project is the most recent single, "Ghosts," the opening track of the work, with a nostalgic and positive sound as it narrates the ghosts of the past of "a child who had a childhood marked by many family problems at home, who suffered bullying outside of it" and deals with the traumas to this day, as Hugo Mariutti explained.

Even during his time with the band, Mariutti released his first two solo albums – For a Simple Rainy Day (2017) and A Blank Sheet of Paper (2014) – as well as the more recent singles “Why”, “Poems” and “Gone”.

The album The Last Dance will be released on June 15th via ForMusic Records . The album also includes the previously released singles “ Blur ” and “ Too Late ”.
