Derek Riggs, creator of famous Iron Maiden album covers, will be at Horror Expo 2019
Derek Riggs became world-renowned for creating numerous album and single covers for Iron Maiden. He is the latest confirmed guest for Horror Expo 2019 , the largest event focused on horror culture ever held in Latin America. The expo covers film, TV, streaming, games, literature, and pop culture. It will take place from October 18th to 20th at Expo Center Norte in São Paulo/SP.
For the first time in Brazil, Riggs will be present every day of the event with his own booth. There, he will sell prints of his works and other items, and will also participate in panels and activities on the fair's main stage.
Eddie, Iron Maiden's famous mascot, originated as an illustration by Riggs titled "Electric Matthew Says Hello." It was created with the intention of being used for a punk band in the late 1970s.
People connected to Iron Maiden gained access to Riggs' portfolio and contacted him. The band asked him to add hair to the figure to make it look less punk. The result was the cover art for Iron Maiden debut album, released in 1980. The partnership continued strong until the early 1990s, and the artist created many of the band's most famous album covers and singles.
The organizers of Horror Expo 2019 have already announced the participation of filmmaker Mick Garris. He is a longtime collaborator of Steven Spielberg, Stephen King, and Michael Jackson . He has directed and/or written major horror classics for film and television, including Amazing Stories, Hocus Pocus, The Shining, The Stand, The Fly II, Psycho IV: Revelation, and Michael Jackson's Ghosts . New guests and attractions will be announced over the coming months.
Tickets for Horror Expo 2019 are now available in their second batch, with prices starting at R$ 170.00. Buy your ticket here .
