Hokum releases cinematic music video for new single; watch “The Caress”

"All of this is underpinned by the emotion and chaos of sex," says vocalist Scott Wareham about the track

Hokum , the renowned South American progressive rock band formerly known as Marlowe , ” accompanied by an intense and cinematic music video.

“'The Caress' is about both the personal and the existential, the latter being a play on the male gaze (meaning it's inverted and shown in reverse). I ended up combining the idea that all perception is corruptible. All of this is underpinned by the emotion and chaos of sex,” says vocalist Scott Wareham .

“The video is predominantly dark with many quick cuts and uncomfortably close-up scenes, some blurred,” he adds. “We wanted people to feel almost an oppressive ‘closeness,’ a disorientation, and a metaphysical force. Each of us chose a primary color (Scott: Red, Conrad : Yellow, Rory : Blue) and we added touches of color where we thought it looked good in the context of the scenes and the music. We really loved creating the video; I would actually say as much as recording the music…”

The track will be featured on the band's new album, Human Sex Equation .
